Army: Soldiers, the Barracks, and Six Troop Tiers

The rank-and-file your heroes lead — recruit and upgrade Infantry, Cavalry, and Archers through six tiers at the Barracks. Apply ready-made recommended lineups by archetype. How the Army system works.

Your Army is the rank-and-file of soldiers your heroes lead into battle. Soldiers are distinct from the heroes: heroes command, while soldiers fill the ranks. All soldiers are trained at the Barracks, and a hero's troop type decides which kind of soldiers they lead.

Soldier Types

Soldiers come in three types that form the troop counter triangle: Infantry counters Archer, Archer counters Cavalry, and Cavalry counters Infantry.

  • Infantry — high HP and defense, the army's defensive cornerstone; counters Archer.
  • Cavalry — high movement speed and attack, the mobile vanguard; counters Infantry.
  • Archer — long range and high attack, the army's ranged firepower; counters Cavalry.

Soldier Tiers

Soldiers advance through six tiers of rising strength, and higher tiers unlock as the Barracks levels up.

Recruit and Upgrade

Recruit: spend resources at the Barracks to recruit soldiers. Toggle on Auto-Recruit to consume resources at fixed intervals and keep topping your army up to its recruit cap. Recruitment can be canceled at any time, refunding 100% of the remaining required resources.

Upgrade: spend resources at the Barracks to upgrade soldiers from one tier to the next. Recruiting and upgrading share a single queue.

Capacity

Your army has a soldier capacity cap. Upgrade your Main City (Capital) to raise that troop capacity.

Recommended Lineups

Beyond building a troop by hand, the game ships system-recommended lineups to jump-start team composition. There are around 18 ready-made lineups, each tagged by one of six archetypes — Control, Counter, DOT, Reflect, AoE, and Area — so you can pick a playstyle and copy a proven setup. Each recommended lineup is a full troop: one Lead plus two Deputies in fixed positions. You can filter the list by archetype, season, or a specific hero or troop type, search by name, see an ownership match (how many of its heroes you already own), and one-tap apply any lineup to an unlocked troop. Lineups can also be shared and imported between players via a lineup code. Exact hero stats are shown in-game.
