Cleopatra VII (69–30 BC) was the last queen of Ptolemaic Egypt. Born into a Hellenistic Macedonian royal house, she taught herself the Egyptian tongue — the first sovereign in centuries of Ptolemaic rule to speak the language of her own people. To preserve her dynasty's independence, she allied in turn with Julius Caesar and with Mark Antony, binding Rome's most powerful men to Egypt's fate. Defeated at the naval clash of Actium by Octavian, she took her own life in Alexandria in 30 BC — by legend, pressing a venomous asp to her arm. With her death the Ptolemaic line ended and Egypt passed into Roman hands. Her political brilliance and diplomatic cunning made her the most written-about woman ruler of the ancient world, a legend retold across every age that followed.

History
On the Battlefield
A queen of the Archers of the Middle East & Africa, Cleopatra fights from the back line as a sower of disorder rather than a brute. Her power lies in disruption: from range she throws the enemy van into chaos, so that the afflicted lose their senses and turn their blades on their own comrades. Her signature, Eye of Horus, sows that disorder into a target, and the more she holds the upper hand, the more readily the madness spreads — until an entire enemy line tears itself apart from within. Where she watches the field, the enemy's ranks dissolve into infighting and her own host pours through the gap.
