Jeanne d'Arc (1412–1431) rose from a farming village in Lorraine to become the legendary heroine of France. Claiming to be guided by the voices of saints, she pleaded to take up arms in the darkest hour of the Hundred Years' War between France and England. In 1429 she led the French army to break the siege of Orléans, then escorted the Dauphin Charles to his coronation at Reims as Charles VII, turning the tide of the war. In 1430 she was captured by Burgundian forces and handed to the English; the following year she was condemned for heresy and burned at the stake in Rouen, only nineteen years old. Her sentence was overturned in 1456, and in 1920 the Church of Rome canonized her as a saint — a martyr whose courage outlived every flame.

Joan of Arc
The Maid of Orléans
The peasant girl who carried a banner into the fire and lifted a kingdom's faith — a charging vanguard who turns every wound against her foes.
History
On the Battlefield
Joan rides among the Cavalry, a relentless striker who blends raw damage with the protection of a true standard-bearer. Her signature charge falls in three blazing strikes, each branding its target so that the harm meant for her can be turned back against the enemy line. A sworn oath of fire shields her from being held or broken, letting her press ever deeper into the foe's formation. Where the Europe realm forges its champions, a Lord who rides behind her banner fights as though faith itself rode at the front.
